‏The game starts at 6 pm at the the Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam, during which the Saudi team seeks to achieve a unique achievement by reaching the Asian final for the first time in its history, and achieving the third consecutive victory after surpassing the Korean and Uzbek teams in the main round of the tournament. ‏As for the "title holders" Qatar team, they started their journey by beating Oman in the third group matchups of the preliminary round, before beating Iraq and the UAE teams respectively, qualifying for the first group of the main round, defeating the Saudi and Uzbekistan teams and winning the points of the Korea team by withdrawing, qualifying for the semi-finals as the leader.

‏The Saudi team suffered a major blow by injuring four of its most prominent stars, who confirmed their absence from the rest of the tournament matches, Mohammed Abbas, who will be absent for a month due to a scratch in the crescent cartilage of the knee, along with Abdullah Abbas, who will be absent for 6 months due to a partial cut in the lateral ligament. Qualifying Possibilities

The second round may see some teams qualify directly to the next world championship, if Qatar and Korea win, they will qualify directly from the first group with four points, but if either loses, the decisive decision will be postponed until the third and final round. If Saudi Arabia wins the points of the Korea game, it may go a great way in qualifying as runners-up, hoping to beat Uzbekistan in the next round.

As for the first group, Bahrain and Iran officially qualify if they win and raise to four points as well, while the loss of either of them may give back the hopes for the other teams Iraq and Kuwait.

The Saudi handball team lost its first game in the main round of the 20th Asian Handball Championship against Qatar (19-34) in the game that was held on Saturday evening at the Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam, as part of the competitions of the first group, which includes "Saudi Arabia - Qatar - Korea - Uzbekistan".
The first half of the Saudi team met Qatar lead by a score of (17-10), and in the second half, the Qatari team continued its lead in the game, despite reducing the gap at times, but Qatar ended the game by winning by 15 points, to lead the group with a points difference from the Korean team, which beat its rival Uzbekistan with a score of (31-21).

As part of the matchups of the second group, the Bahraini team also topped its group by beating its rival Kuwait by a large margin with a score of (15-29), on the other game Iran beat its rival Iraq by a score of (28-25).

As part of the ninth to sixteenth positions held at Prince Nayef Hall in Qatif, Oman won their game against Australia (10-0) by withdrawing after the absence of the Australian team, the UAE team beat India by a score of (31-21), while Jordan managed to beat Vietnam by a score of (29-40), and in the last game, Hong Kong beat Singapore (31-13).

Tomorrow, Sunday, will be rest for all competing teams in the main round, while the ninth to sixteenth positioning matchups will continue in Dammam, where Vietnam and India meet at 12 pm, and then Hong Kong will meet Australia at 2 pm, and the UAE team will face its rival Jordan at 4 pm, and the matchups will conclude at 6 pm with a game between Oman and Singapore.

 

The coaching staff of the Saudi handball team led by French coach Didier Dinart invited Hassan Freij to join the Saudi team in the remaining game of the 20th Asian Handball Championship, which are currently held in the Eastern Province and will continue until January 31, the tournament is also a chance to qualify to participate in the 2023 World Championship.

Freij will replace Ahmed Al-Ali, who was injured, and will conduct medical tests to diagnose his injury over the next two days.

 

The Saudi handball team qualified for the main round of the Asian Handball Teams Championship, despite losing to Iran (20-24) at the last game of the first round, on Thursday evening at the the Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam, to take second place in the second group, while Iran came first.

The Saudi team finished the first half by 4 goals (13-9), and in the second half, the Iranian team took advantage of the decline in the Saudi team to reduce the gap, then win the game, so that the both teams qualified for the main round, which starts on Saturday. In the other game from the same group, Australia finished third with a win over India (27-26).

In the rest of the matchups of the third day, Korea qualified as the leader of Group A by beating Kuwait (27-26) in the game held at the Prince Nayef Sports City Hall in Qatif, while Jordan finished third place with their victory over the Singapore (40-19) in the other game held in Dammam.

In the third group, Qatar qualified as a leader in its victory over the UAE team by a score of (22-17) in the game held in Qatif, while Iraq qualified as a runner-up by overtaking Oman by a score of (31-29) in their game in Dammam.

The Bahraini team achieved the full mark leading Group D by beating Hong Kong with a score of (46-20) in the game held in Qatif, while Uzbekistan qualified as runner-up with a win over Vietnam (30-23).

The results of the first round resulted in the Saudi team falling in the first group of the main round along with Korea, Qatar and Uzbekistan, while the second group included Kuwait, Iran, Bahrain and Iraq.

 

 

 

Saudi handball team continued its lead in the second group in the preliminary round of the 20th Asian men's championship by beating the Australian team (30-13) in the game they had at the Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam, where the Saudi team finished the first half by a large margin (16-7). Iran also had their second victory over India (42-29), in their game at Prince Nayef Hall in Qatif, where the Indian team concludes their journey in the same group facing Australia tomorrow, Thursday at Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam.

The rest of the games of the second day, Kuwait won the Singapore team with a score of (43-14) in Group A, while Korea beat Jordan (28-24).

Qatar topped Group C with a victory over Iraq (37-22) in the game that was held in Dammam, while the UAE team managed to achieve their first victory over rival Oman (24-23) in the game that was held in Qatif.

Bahrain continued to lead Group D with a victory over Uzbekistan (35-19), and Hong Kong achieved their first win in the tournament over rival Vietnam with a score of (31-27) in Dammam.

Thursday, the first round conclude with eight matchups, where the Korea team will meet Kuwait at 6 pm in Qatif to compete for the top of the first group after the two teams ensured qualification for the next round, while Jordan and Singapore meet at 2 pm in Dammam.

The third group will have at 4 PM a game between Qatar and the UAE team in Qatif, while Iraq will face rival Oman in Dammam at the same time.

In the fourth group, the leader will meet the Bahraini national team with Hong Kong national team in Qatif at 2 PM, while Vietnam and Uzbekistan will meet in the same hall at 12 pm.

 

 

Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, inaugurated today evening, Tuesday, January 18, 2022, the 20th Asian Championship for men's handball teams, in the presence of Mr. Badr Diab, Vice President of the International Federation for the continent of Asia, and Mr. Fadel bin Ali Al-Nimr, president of the Saudi Handball Federation, and a number of sports personalities, where it included a number of performances and laser presentations.

Prince Fahad bin Jalawi attended the first game of the Saudi team, which was held at the Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam, where the Saudi team started the championship competitions by beating the Indian team (54-30), to top the second group with a points difference from Iran, which beat the Australian team (32-10) in the same group.

The championship games continue tomorrow on Wednesday afternoon in the second day in the first round with eight matchups, where the Saudi team will meet with the Australian team at 6 PM in Dammam, while the Iranian team will face the Indian team at 4 PM at the Prince Nayef Sports City Hall in Qatif.

As part of the group one competitions, the Korean team will meet at 6 PM its rival Jordan in the meeting, which will be held in Dammam, and in the other game that will be held in Qatif within the same group, Kuwait will meet its rival Singapore at 12 PM.

Iraq achieved a precious victory over its rival the UAE with a score of (32-31) within the the third group in the meeting they gathered at the Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam, while the Qatari team achieved a great victory over the Omani team with a score of (31-14).

In the fourth group, Bahrain won a major victory over Vietnam with a score of (46-14) in the meeting held at the Prince Nayef City Hall in Qatif, while Uzbekistan beat its rival Hong Kong with a score of (28-24).

 

The Iraqi national team won a valuable victory over its rival UAE (32-31) its first victory in the opening of the 20th Asian Men's Handball Championship
at the Ministry of Sports Hall in Dammam.

In the other match , which was held at the same time at Prince Nayef City Hall in Qatif in the group competitions , the UAE national team achieved a victory over its competitor Oman, with a score of (31-14).
